I have a new book chapter in 21st Century US Historical Fiction, exploring David Means’ alternate history novel Hystopia.
For B20, the online community of the boundary 2 editorial collective, I wrote an essay reflecting about the experience of time in lockdown via the fiction of Douglas Coupland. You can read my essay, “‘Every day is like Sunday’: Reading the Time of Lockdown via Douglas Coupland”, here.
My new research project, “Writing the Sleep Crisis”, has attracted funding from the Wellcome Trust (Research Fellowship in Humanities and Social Science) and the European Commission (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship). In this project, I will explore the cultural politics of the sleep crisis, namely, today’s presumed widespread sleep deprivation.
